Network Security Specialist II

Description:

Assist OIR DNT staff in defining the network and security requirements needed in order to build out a new Data Center Network. Research, Design, Test, Configure, and test network and security devices to implement in a Data Center environment. OIR DNT is going to build brand new Data Centers and will need to decide what technology will be implemented in those new facilities. Provide network and security support for migration of servers to include core switch configurations/modifications, network interfaces to servers, load balancing, SSL, VPN support, Firewall rule implementation and maintenance, load testing, and fault management; Produce detailed network diagrams in Visio.Current; previous experience of equipment such as CISCO 6500 with FWSM, CSM, and CSS; CheckPoint, Juniper FW, F5 Load Balancer. Maintains documentation of all servers, applications and network components at the data centers to include IP address, physical connections, physical and logical data flows and work flows; Works with OIR and agencies to determine DR solutions for applications across both data centers; Manages network related disaster recovery events, real and exercises; Reviews designs and solution options and provides reactive and proactive changes to network hardware and software components to ensure that user requirements are met and that the network is performing at optimum levels; Provides level 2 and 3 support for fault management and problem resolution; Works with network engineering group to establish standards and to put designed solutions in place.

Basic Skills

  • Requires a minimum of five (5) years senior level experience in network security administration, including firewall, VPN, and intrusion detection support.
  • Experience must include firewall support for Cisco PIX and Checkpoint.
  • Experience making appropriate changes to network security hardware/software configurations and/or works directly with the service providers to correct network security problems.
  • Experience Installing and monitoring the most complex installations of network security software and hardware to provide LAN, MAN, WAN, and Data Center security services, including network security monitoring, security hardware/software management, firewall rule management, and related activities.
  • Experience providing senior level security support in diagnosis and identifying corrective actions to address network security hardware/software problems, monitors staff activities to correct problems, and monitors changes to ensure network security problems are corrected.

Additional Skills

  • Network and security analysis, design, deployment, and management to include areas such as virtual private networks, firewalls, content filtering, and intrusion detection (5 years)
  • Working knowledge of the following terminology: EBGP, OSPF, RIPv2, EIGRP, HSRP, GLBP, GRE, ACS, RADIUS, TACACS+, ACLs, Syslog, SNMP (5 years)
  • Working knowledge of the following terminology: EtherChannel, Spanning Tree, Trunking, VLAN, Checkpoint (5 years)
  • Working Knowledge of the following terminology: PIX, ASA, IDS, IPS, IPSec, AES, TKIP, VPN (5 years)
  • Working knowledge of the following terminology: DNS, DHCP (5 years)
  • Working knowledge of the following terminology: Wildcard certs, SSL Certs, Real Server, Virtual IP, VMWare (5 years)
  • Bachelor's degree and minimum of 5 years experience in complex networks (5 years)
